KARATE ONTARIO HISTORY
INTRODUCTION:
The purpose of this web page is to compile and display or link to information about the Ontario karate team members who participated in Canadian national competition at the black belt level.
We hope to eventually present information regarding Ontario teams from the inception of organized competition in 1962 to the present.
As data is acquired this web page will attempt to identify national tournament dates and locations, Ontario Team members, coaches, lead officials, and national medalists representing Ontario. Note that prior to 1974 Karate Ontario as an organization did not exist. Canadian team members from Ontario were selected by a different process, primarily based on successes in regional tournaments.
At this time we are seeking reliable historical documentary data from any source. The data should relate to people, tournaments, tournament results, officiating, coaching or Karate Ontario governance. Photographs of prominent individuals would be helpful.

1964 - Canadian International Open Karate Championship organized by Masami Tsuruoka
1965 - Canadian International Open Karate Championship hosted by Masami Tsuruoka won by an Okinawan named Zenpo Shimabukuro,
1965 - CNE Championship won by Mr. Fred Boyko
1969-CNE Yasunori Ono 1st, Walli Slocki 2nd

1976 Canadian Amateur Athletic Union (CAAU) five man Karate Team Championship won by University of Toronto, (Charles Rhodes is a winning team member)
1978 David Tsuruoka 1st in Men's kata at nationals, Ted Jungblut 1st at CNE, Kenzo Dozono 2nd at CNE
